In each of these industries, Richard has utilized new tools while integrating with legacy systems.

In several of these engagements, Richard has interacted or otherwise managed personnel in various countries including (but not limited to) Brazil, China, Japan, and the United Kingdom. In each case, there was a learning curve on each countries culture and customs.

Background

As an adolescent, Richard started his development career not by writing software, but by deconstructing items (hide your screwdrivers, folks!) to learn how they worked. During this time, Richard inherited or otherwise became in posession of various second-hand computers from family and friends, and discovered BASIC. It wasn’t until the summer between his freshman and sophmore year in High School that the real interest for writing software came to frution. He grew his interest, as he took a software development course in QBasic his freshman year. During this summer, after being gifted a QBasic library that allowed him to interact with a mouse within QBasic, he worked on authoring a Graphical User Interface for QBasic/DOS based applications.

From that point, and through the rest of his high school years, his interests really grew for software development, and he wrote a program in Microsoft Access that placed first in a regional contest; and forth in the state-level to manage student grading for the school staff.

After attending, and subsequently having to drop out of DeVry University, Richard spent a year working for a local software firm, where Richard taught himself VB6 and VB.Net development for both desktop and web applications.

Although it was a great experience; after realizing that $8.50/hr was never going to allow him to live the life he would want, it was time to leave the job and head back into school. He achieved his Associates of Computer Information Systems at Berks Technical Institute.

After completion of his studies, Richard has worked in advertising, point-of-sale, payment processing, botique investments, banks, higher education, and several startups where he was either a founder of, or had membership interest in, each firm.
